about l’once

L’Once is the conceptual cinematic electronica project of Mexican drummer and composer Javier Macías-Burdick.

Trained as a drummer, he approaches composition from the inside out, beginning with an image, a constraint, a question. How does the inside of a womb sound? How do sunlight particles feel when they hit the Earth's atmosphere? For him, an orchestra is not a fixed ensemble but an open one: any instrument, in any role, serving a composition that is larger than any of its parts.

Defining his process as "Structural Determinism," Javier builds musical environments governed by strict internal logic, where restriction is the starting point, not the obstacle.

People who hear L'Once for the first time reach for the same word: cinematic. It keeps coming back.

The music asks for stillness and closed eyes. The layers run deep enough that each listen returns something the last one missed.

His debut project, BLANCO, serves as the first blueprint in this ongoing study of virtue through sound.
